  • To become eligible to sit for license exam, you must meet all licensure requirements. In order to be approved to take the license exam, you must meet all requirements for state licensure as outlined in the MS LPC Rules and Regulations (Rule 4).

    You must complete and submit an application and all supporting documents for review. The MS LPC Board will review your application, education, experience and supervision to determine if you meet all requirements for licensure candidacy. Once approved, you will be a Candidate to take the license exam and will receive a Licensure Examination Registration Form from the Mississippi Board. (Candidates must receive approval from the Mississippi State Board of Examiners before they are eligible for testing.)

    Prior to licensure, all applicants must pass the National Counselor Examination or the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination for Licensure or Certification (NCE or NCMHCE) published by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), Inc. After July 1, 2015, the Board will only approve Applicants for licensure candidacy to sit for the NCMHCE.

    Individuals making initial application for licensure who have already taken the NCE, prior to July 1, 2015, or the NCMHCE must include in their application packet an official VERIFICATION OF CERTIFICATION AND EXAMINATION SCORES report from the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc., or directly from another state’s appropriate licensing board, indicating a passing score. These individuals will be considered for licensure without retaking the NCE or NCMHCE .

  • License Exam Dates
  • Testing is normally the first two full weeks of each month, Monday thru Saturday at 9:00am and 1:30pm, with four hours allowed for the exam, however, only certain sites offer Saturday testing. Candidates are scheduled on a first-come,first-served basis. There is currently one testing location in Mississippi, however, you are able to test at any of the over 191 AMP assessment centers across the U.S. The exam site in Mississippi is in Jackson.
